“High Spirits” Exhibit at Redwood

Two new art shows are scheduled this month and next at the Rogue Community College galleries. The Fire House Gallery, 214 SW Fourth St., Grants Pass, will exhibit work by the RCC Art Department’s newest faculty member, Karl Brake. “High Spirits,” a series of expressionist landscape paintings from the Northwest high desert, integrated with classical human figures, will be on display Oct. 31 through Nov. 21. A First Friday Art Night reception for the artist is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 2. Also in the Fire House Gallery, in the Community Exhibits Room, will be “The Salmon Project,” a collection of wood cutouts embellished by art students at Lincoln Savage Middle School and Hidden Valley High School. In RCC’s Wiseman Gallery, “Night Edge,” a series of photographs by Patricia Arnold, will be on display Nov. 5 through Dec. 7. The Wiseman Gallery is located on the RCC Redwood Campus, 3345 Redwood Hwy., Grants Pass. In the Wiseman Gallery Annex, encaustic pieces produced by students in this term’s Visiting Artist Series workshop will be on display Oct.26 through Nov. 16.
